Your privacy on Tea.

Tea does not display your private account identity on posts or comments. We still maintain a phone-verified account identity so we can operate the service, prevent abuse, process purchases, and protect people.

Information we collect

We collect your verified phone number, account and device information, content and media you submit, interactions such as hearts and comments, reports and moderation records, and limited product analytics and diagnostic information. If you join a product waitlist, we collect the email address you provide, the platform you are interested in, and when and where you joined. Product analytics records actions such as completing signup, connecting contacts, creating a post, or hearting a post; it does not include your phone number, contacts, post or comment text, media, report reasons, social graph, or precise location. If you grant contacts permission, the app sends privacy-preserving contact identifiers so we can find network connections; it does not publicly reveal which named contacts use Tea.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate accounts, build socially relevant feeds, deliver notifications, process purchases, moderate content, investigate abuse, secure the service, provide support, and improve Tea. We use waitlist information only to provide relevant launch updates and manage your waitlist preference. User-uploaded images receive an automated safety check for explicit or graphic content before they can be distributed. We do not show your phone number or private account identity to other users.

Sharing and service providers

We use carefully selected providers, including PostHog for limited product analytics, Sentry for privacy-limited crash diagnostics, and AWS for hosting, storage, and automated image safety checks, as well as providers for phone verification, payments, monitoring, and other operations. They receive only the information needed to perform those services. We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to protect users, the public, or the service.

We do not sell or share mobile information or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide that information to service providers only as necessary to deliver and support Tea’s verification messages.

Retention and deletion

You can request account deletion in Settings or on our account deletion page. We schedule deletion after a seven-day grace period so you can reverse an accidental request. We then remove or de-identify account data and content from active systems. Waitlist information is retained until the relevant launch updates are complete, you unsubscribe, or you ask us to delete it. Limited records may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, transaction records, dispute handling, or backup integrity.

Your choices

You can control contact discovery and notifications, block authors, manage or delete your posts, appeal eligible moderation decisions, and delete your account from the app. Device permissions can also be changed in your operating-system settings.

Safety and children

Tea is not intended for children under 13. We use private account-level records to enforce our Community Guidelines and investigate harmful behavior.
